What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer high-end mattresses under 3 brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils provide the Saatva Classic a good amount of bounce near the top, and a luxurious top adds softness. As with all of the Saatva Business’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, rather than in a box.

Note: Saatva recently updated the Zenhaven, altering the kind of latex utilized in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now includes Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; find out more about the distinctions below. We prepare to check the brand-new variation soon and will upgrade this guide with our impressions.
The all-foam Zenhaven consists mainly of latex, which is intrinsically resilient. The Zenhaven is likewise flippable (the High-end Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Company side feels a bit firmer), which might prove helpful if you’re not sure what you prefer or if your needs alter in time. This is not a traditionally soft bed mattress, but it provides a supple cushion, great edge support, and a subtle springiness. Provided its natural durability, the Zenhaven needs to work well for people who weigh more than 200 pounds.
For this review, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven mattresses for several weeks in my own home. These bed mattress were also examined in our group tests performed for Wirecutter’s guides to the finest foam bed mattress and the best innerspring bed mattress. As Wirecutter’s senior personnel writer for sleep, I’ve interviewed scores of professionals in the mattress industry and in materials science; visited dozens of mattress factories, shops, and showrooms; and read the fine print on specs, guarantees, and return policies. Most recently, supervising editor Courtney Schley evaluated the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her home for numerous weeks.

We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environmentally friendly” brand names. We do know that the business uses thistle pulp or organic wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to chemicals or fiberglass) and just organic cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress business, Saatva promotes such extras as zoned layers for “optimal spinal column support”; we’re less amazed with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer service and long lasting foams and coils.
