What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer luxury bed mattress under 3 brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils provide the Saatva Classic a great amount of bounce near the top, and a plush top includes softness. As with all of the Saatva Company’s mattresses, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, rather than in a box.
Considerations: Saatva Mattress 11 5 Vs 14 5
The Saatva’s convenience system uses thinner layers of foam than many hybrid models. These thinner layers of foam integrated with the Euro-top’s fiber fill take in some movement, reducing how much motion is felt across the surface area of the bed. Sleepers might still experience some movement transfer when their partner changes position or gets up during the night due to the mattress’s two layers of springs. Thanks to its softer feel, the Plush Soft version of the Saatva absorbs slightly more movement than the Luxury Firm and Firm alternatives. While all of the Saatva firmness alternatives have pressure-relieving capacity, the quantity of pressure relief that a private experiences on the mattress will vary based partly on their weight and sleep position. People who weigh under 130 pounds will likely experience the most pressure relief on the Plush Soft version of the bed mattress, while sleepers over 230 pounds will likely get the best balance of contouring and support from the Firm version.
Note: Saatva recently updated the Zenhaven, altering the kind of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now features Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; learn more about the distinctions listed below. We prepare to check the new version quickly and will update this guide with our impressions.
The all-foam Zenhaven consists mainly of latex, which is inherently durable. The Zenhaven is also flippable (the High-end Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Firm side feels a bit firmer), which might show useful if you’re not sure what you prefer or if your needs change with time. This is not a conventionally cushy bed mattress, however it provides a supple cushion, excellent edge assistance, and a subtle springiness. Offered its natural durability, the Zenhaven should work well for individuals who weigh more than 200 pounds.
These mattresses were also evaluated in our group tests conducted for Wirecutter’s guides to the finest foam bed mattress and the finest innerspring bed mattress. As Wirecutter’s senior personnel author for sleep, I’ve spoken with scores of specialists in the bed mattress industry and in materials science; checked out dozens of mattress display rooms, shops, and factories; and pored over the fine print on requirements, service warranties, and return policies.

We haven’t yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environment-friendly” brand names. We do understand that the company uses thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to fiberglass or chemicals) and only organic cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online mattress companies, Saatva promotes such additionals as zoned layers for “optimum spinal column assistance”; we’re less impressed with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive client service and resilient foams and coils.
