What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva focuses on direct-to-consumer high-end bed mattress under 3 brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. In between these 3 brand names, the company offers several mattress models, including the all-foam Loom & Leaf;& Leaf; the latex Zenhaven; the airbed, Solaire; and the hybrid Saatva. Perfect for: Individuals with more particular firmness choices Sleepers of any size and sleep position Those who tend to sleep hot Couples looking for a mix of pressure relief and bounce A lot of online mattresses are hybrids or foams, so the Saatva Classic sticks out. It’s one of the few innerspring bed mattress you can easily purchase online. Pocketed coils give the Saatva Classic a good amount of bounce near the top, and a plush top includes softness. As with all of the Saatva Company’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, rather than in a box. Saatva also offers a generous 180-day trial duration and easy returns.

Keep in mind: Saatva recently upgraded the Zenhaven, changing the kind of latex utilized in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now features Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; learn more about the distinctions below. The Zenhaven is also flippable (the High-end Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Mild Firm side feels a bit firmer), which may prove practical if you’re not sure what you prefer or if your requirements change over time. This is not a traditionally cushy bed mattress, however it uses a supple cushion, excellent edge assistance, and a subtle springiness.
For this evaluation, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven bed mattress for numerous weeks in my own home. These mattresses were also evaluated in our group tests conducted for Wirecutter’s guides to the best foam bed mattress and the best innerspring bed mattress. As Wirecutter’s senior personnel author for sleep, I’ve spoken with ratings of experts in the bed mattress industry and in materials science; checked out lots of mattress stores, display rooms, and factories; and read the fine print on specs, service warranties, and return policies. Most just recently, supervising editor Courtney Schley evaluated the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her house for a number of weeks.

We haven’t yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environment-friendly” brands. However we do know that the company utilizes thistle pulp or organic wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to fiberglass or chemicals) and only organic cotton (instead of artificial blends) in its covers. As do other online mattress business, Saatva promotes such additionals as zoned layers for “optimal spinal column support”; we’re less impressed with those functions and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive client service and resilient foams and coils.
