What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer luxury mattresses under 3 brand name names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils offer the Saatva Classic an excellent amount of bounce near the top, and a luxurious top adds softness. As with all of the Saatva Company’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is delivered by movers, rather than in a box.

When their partner stirs might find the Saatva transfers more movement than ideal, people who are quickly woken up Individuals who like the hug of memory foam might not feel the Saatva adheres closely sufficient The Saatva’s convenience system uses thinner layers of foam than many hybrid models. While all of the Saatva firmness alternatives have pressure-relieving capacity, the amount of pressure relief that an individual experiences on the mattress will vary based partially on their weight and sleep position. Individuals who weigh under 130 pounds will likely experience the most pressure relief on the Plush Soft version of the mattress, while sleepers over 230 pounds will likely get the best balance of contouring and support from the Company version.
Keep in mind: Saatva just recently updated the Zenhaven, changing the type of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now includes Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the differences below. We plan to test the new version soon and will update this guide with our impressions.
The Zenhaven is also flippable (the High-end Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Company side feels a bit firmer), which may show valuable if you’re not sure what you prefer or if your needs alter over time. This is not a traditionally cushy bed mattress, however it uses a supple cushion, good edge support, and a subtle springiness.

As Wirecutter’s senior personnel writer for sleep, I’ve spoken with ratings of specialists in the mattress market and in materials science; visited dozens of mattress display rooms, stores, and factories; and pored over the fine print on requirements, guarantees, and return policies.

We haven’t yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environmentally friendly” brands. We do know that the company utilizes thistle pulp or organic wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to fiberglass or chemicals) and just natural cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress business, Saatva touts such extras as zoned layers for “ideal spinal column support”; we’re less amazed with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive client service and long lasting foams and coils.
