What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer high-end bed mattress under three brand: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. In between these three brand names, the business offers several bed mattress models, including the all-foam Loom & Leaf;& Leaf; the latex Zenhaven; the airbed, Solaire; and the hybrid Saatva. Perfect for: People with more specific firmness preferences Sleepers of any size and sleep position Those who tend to sleep hot Couples searching for a mix of pressure relief and bounce A lot of online mattresses are foams or hybrids, so the Saatva Classic sticks out. It is among the few innerspring mattresses you can easily purchase online. Pocketed coils give the Saatva Classic an excellent quantity of bounce near the top, and a luxurious top adds softness. Likewise, as with all of the Saatva Business’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is delivered by movers, rather than in a box. Saatva also provides a generous 180-day trial period and easy returns.

The Saatva’s convenience system uses thinner layers of foam than many hybrid models. These thinner layers of foam combined with the Euro-top’s fiber fill absorb some motion, reducing how much motion is felt across the surface of the bed. Sleepers might still experience some movement transfer when their partner changes position or gets up throughout the night due to the bed mattress’s 2 layers of springs. Thanks to its softer feel, the Plush Soft version of the Saatva absorbs somewhat more motion than the High-end Company and Company choices.
While all of the Saatva firmness choices have pressure-relieving capacity, the amount of pressure relief that an individual experiences on the bed mattress will vary based partially on their weight and sleep position. People who weigh under 130 pounds will likely experience the most pressure relief on the Luxurious Soft version of the mattress, while sleepers over 230 pounds will likely get the best balance of contouring and assistance from the Firm version.
Keep in mind: Saatva recently upgraded the Zenhaven, altering the kind of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now features Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the distinctions below. We plan to evaluate the brand-new version quickly and will update this guide with our impressions.
The all-foam Zenhaven consists mainly of latex, which is intrinsically long lasting. The Zenhaven is likewise flippable (the High-end Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Company side feels a bit firmer), which might show useful if you’re unsure what you choose or if your requirements alter with time. This is not a traditionally soft mattress, but it offers a flexible cushion, good edge assistance, and a subtle springiness. Given its innate resilience, the Zenhaven should work well for people who weigh more than 200 pounds.
These mattresses were also evaluated in our group tests conducted for Wirecutter’s guides to the finest foam bed mattress and the finest innerspring bed mattress. As Wirecutter’s senior staff writer for sleep, I’ve interviewed scores of specialists in the mattress market and in materials science; visited lots of bed mattress shops, showrooms, and factories; and pored over the fine print on requirements, guarantees, and return policies.

We haven’t yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environmentally friendly” brands. However we do understand that the business uses thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to fiberglass or chemicals) and only organic cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online mattress companies, Saatva touts such additionals as zoned layers for “ideal spine support”; we’re less satisfied with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer service and resilient foams and coils.
